Python Engineer
About The Position
As a Python Developer on the CPG Data team, you'll be working with a collaborative group of data engineers and analysts who transform retail image data into actionable insights for consumer packaged goods companies. Our team is responsible for the critical KPI calculation platform that processes millions of retail data points daily, helping major brands understand their shelf presence, compliance, and market positioning.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain our internal KPI calculation platform using Python 3.x (with some legacy systems in Python 2.7)
- Build and optimize high-performance data processing pipelines that handle terabytes of retail image data
- Develop and support APIs, microservices, and backend services using FastAPI in an async environment
- Create efficient data transformations using pandas and polars libraries
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement data solutions that meet business requirements
- Continuously improve our platform through code refactoring, optimization, and implementing best practices
- Handle code reviews, enforcing standards and best practices
- Participate in Agile process (sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, daily scrum)
- Improve system resilience, scalability, performance, and quality

Requirements
- 3+ years of proven experience in Python development, specifically with data processing and analysis
- Strong proficiency with pandas and polars for data manipulation in Python
- Experience with both Python 3.x and legacy Python 2.7 codebases
- Experience with FastAPI, particularly in asynchronous environments
- Strong understanding of MySQL and database optimization
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Familiarity with caching solutions like Redis
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
